Description

TM is a simple, natural, enjoyable and very practical technique that improves health and well-being in many different ways. It does not involve adopting new beliefs or changing your lifestyle, and once learned correctly it is very easy to do.

Transcendental Meditation is a unique form of meditation which allows the mind and body to experience the deepest possible state of rest in a completely safe and natural way. Deep rooted stress is progressively dissolved with regular practice. Research shows that TM spontaneously produces coherent functioning across the whole brain, leading to clearer and more creative thinking and more success and fulfillment in life.

If you would like to come a free introductory talk, these usually take place on Thursdays, at the TM Centre, 17a/1 West Crosscauseway, EH8 9JW, at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, but please ring or email to confirm that there will be a talk on the particular day that you would like to come. Other times/days by arrangement.

Why learn TM? Transcendental Meditation unfolds the full potential of life. Extensive research has found it reduces stress and anxiety resulting in more inner peace, creativity, health, success and happiness. Inner peace is a mind-body experience: it's not enough to affirm yourself to inner peace. You have to experience it in the physiology. The deep restfulness experienced during TM relaxes the body and allows it to release stress and built-up fatigue. When your nervous system is less tense, you can react more calmly to problems that arise.

Inner peace is easy: by adding the calming experience of Transcendental Meditation to your daily routine, inner peace grows easily. The natural tendency of the mind is to go in the direction of more happiness and peace. When practising TM, this process happens naturally and automatically. Studies have found that Transcendental Meditation reduces anxiety, depression, and even symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.

Inner peace is not a passive state. True inner peace is the sense of calm and "centredness" needed to be effective in today's busy world. In sports, they call it "the zone", where athletes perform at their peak while maintaining a calm, comprehensive point of view. You don't need to retreat to a mountain top to find inner peace.

Creating a balanced outlook: there may or may not be things we can do to reorganise our lives externally in order to help to reduce stress. But whether or not this is an option, internally Transcendental Meditation actually eliminates the effects of stress, physiologically. Because each individual is different, the balancing effects of Transcendental Meditation may bring different benefits for different people, for example: fewer headaches, improved sleep, increased energy or better relationships. However, one benefit that the majority of people share is that they can generally handle stressful situations better after learning Transcendental Meditation.
